This afternoon, I'm laying in the chair again, wiped out. Yesterday evening my daughter came home from work saturated in fragrance. She'd been in meetings all day with her boss, who is a heavy fragrance user. It took her about 5 minutes to get in the door and into the shower. I was in the kitchen. About the time she got into the bathroom, the reactions hit me like a ton of bricks. I don't know what perfumes she was exposed to, but the lymphatic inflammation was sudden and vicious. In seconds I went from fine to excruciating agony. My central lymph ducts, front and back felt like they were about to rupture and the pain was nearly unbearable. I was sobbing, writhing and crying out. My legs kept buckling and I was fighting not to pass out. I was trying everything I knew, to bring the pain down. It was way out of control. I could feel myself going into shock. I took supplements, lymph treatments, massaged, rebounded, clawed at the invisible ice pick driven into my flesh. I turned on all the fans, opened windows, lit organic beeswax candles... No relief. I tried the sauna. I was already in hypertension, I had to get out. I took scalding hot showers. Finally I managed to knock it down. Unfortunately, when she came in, my daughter transferred the fragrance to several items in her room. By morning my symptoms were surging again, from the VOCS that made their way out of her room. Justin, my son-in-law, started washing down everything in their room, and went out looking at more apartments. They were living with us to save money. So, not only did her bosses choice to wear fragrance reach out and viciously assault me, but it's having a definite adverse impact on my daughter and son-in-law, and forcing us to make a choice that none of us wanted.
Choosing to wear fragrance is never a "personal choice."
